Welcome to Plain-O Helpers!
For inside projects, all members of the household must be vaccinated. All Plain-O Helpers going inside houses are vaccinated.
For outside projects, we just want to note vaccination status.
“Vaccinated” means it has been at least two weeks since the last shot (2nd shot for Pfizer or Moderna, only shot for J&J).
Due to increased transmissibility of the Delta and Omicron variants, both clients and Helpers must wear masks when indoors.
Plain-O Helpers (POH) is a faith-based handyman program of seniors helping other seniors with minor home maintenance and repairs. We target seniors, age 60 and older, and disabled clients with a Plano address or residing in the Plano Independent School District. The program provides maintenance and repair services for the home, with a key focus on safety, security, and health issues.
Our volunteers work on Friday mornings from 9:00 to noon. Typical jobs are an hour or less. Each team of at least two volunteers will visit multiple clients during the same morning.
There is no charge for the help we provide. Donations are welcome to offset cost of materials and to help others who are less fortunate.
Plain-O Helpers members must all pass background checks before becoming a member.
Don’t live in Plano? Here are links to agencies that work with seniors in nearby cities.
Please call us and leave a message to schedule a visit (or to find out if we do what you have in mind) or submit an online Service Request. We will call back to get any clarifying or missing information and to set up a Friday morning for the visit.
If you have any questions about what we do, please call us or send an email.
